All Advice Is Autobiographical

all advice is autobiographical Isabel Valoria Rao

I’ve been reading Sheryl Sandberg’s “Lean In” again now that I’m in a new position at work with more responsibility and more people depending on me.  She quickly mentions how “all advice is autobiographical” and it just blew my mind.  Is this why I feel the need to create my picture quotes on Instagram?  To give myself advice as much as I give it to everyone else?  Why, yes it is.

I’ve forgotten one of my main purposes for my blog: sharing my experiences and advice to show other hardworking millennials that you are not alone in your struggles.  Whether the struggle is big or small, we all go through it and you don’t have to go through it alone.  Along with the good times and success stories come even more struggles and failures.  Everybody fails and it’s not the end of the world.  We are resilient, we are not entitled, we are hard workers and we will succeed!

I only post positive photos on social media, usually myself in a party dress or with a gaggle of girlfriends or fawning over my husband, Jett.  But if you really want to see how it is, check out my picture quotes.  It’s advice that I share.  It’s advice that I need tell myself at that moment in time.

So thank you for being my creative outlet.  Thank you for listening.  And thank you for sharing my life and leadership journey with me.

❤ Isabel
