Getting Better with Age

fullsizerender1

Some of my current anti-aging products …

Sometimes I feel OLD. My two wrinkles are particularly obvious that day, my back is aching for no reason and I’m going to bed early on a Saturday night. No wonder people complain about aging and dread growing old. Well, I’m tired of it! No, I’m not tired of getting old. I’m tired of hearing the complaints. Call me delusional, but I really don’t think it’s as bad as it seems. Here are some of my optimistic reasons why growing old means that life only gets better.

Three Brides, One Summer

Being a bride is one of the most special and magical times of a girl’s life. Little did I know that it would be even more special by sharing it with two of my best friends.

Isabel IRL: A Good Old-Fashioned Slumber Party

Slide1

Let’s face it, fellow Canadians: we’re in a recession. And in full-fledged wedding season. So when money is tight due to lack of jobs or excess of wedding expenses, there is absolutely no reason to spend hundreds of dollar$ on bottle service in da club.

Why not a good old-fashioned slumber party? Continue reading

Isabel’s Millennialogue: Dream Wedding in the Philippines

Hello, there!  Yes, I’m at that age in which almost everyone I know is getting engaged or married.  This year, Jett and I will be attending at least 4 weddings – one of them being our own in St. Lucia.  Continue reading

Isabel’s Millennialogue: Why Travel?

Slide1

Hi, everyone! I am back into the swing of things after a month-long vacation to the Philippines, Thailand and Ethiopia. Naturally I now have to blog about “why one should travel”. For a while in the beginning of my professional life, I did not enjoy traveling. I did not understand why I needed to leave home because I love being home on that lazy Sunday, watching Netflix, reading a good book and/or drinking a delicious pot of tea. It was just recently when I had learned to appreciate traveling and I’m now going to tell you why. Continue reading

Isabel’s Millennialogue: Simplify Your Life

Things are getting hectic around the Valoria-Rao household.  Not only are we getting ready for a big vacation, we are still living in a construction zone due to last month’s leak issue (as we wait on our upstairs neighbour for the repairs), Jett’s busy flipping a condo with Acclaimed Properties, I’m trying to get all my year-end tasks done for work, we’re attending a bunch of Christmas events, I haven’t even started Christmas shopping … and the list goes on and on! Isabel’s Millennialogue: Life and Lemons

Sometimes life gives you lemons that are so bad, you just can’t make lemonade.  Don’t panic!  Everyone gets lemons in varying degrees.  Try not to be a party pooper, deal with it and live your life!  Of course you can rant about it with your close friends and family, but don’t dwell on it for too long — vent and move on.  Life is not perfect and that’s what makes it interesting. Isabel’s Millennialogue: Software and Saris!

My future sister-in-law, Nisha, is getting married in Ethiopia and I’m so excited to be a part of it!  But this meant that I needed a green and black sari for her wedding as I’m a part of her unofficial bridal party 🙂 Continue reading

KNOVO: Supporting Women in Corporate Calgary

I love Calgary. But the fact that we are one of the “worst places to be a woman in Canada” irks me. We are a highly diverse, multicultural city with so much to do and so much to experience and I want people to see that. It’s time for change. It’s time to show people that Calgary is inclusive and diverse. It’s time to create an environment where women are fully participating in, contributing to, and leading efforts to build Alberta’s economy. And this is exactly what KNOVO aims to do. Continue reading
