A girl is only as good as her squad. Yes, it’s a rip off of “A man is only as good as his team,” but I cannot emphasize enough the importance of having the right people around you to back you up and to believe in you. Life is so much easier and enjoyable if you have the right #Squad in your work-life and personal-life.
#GirlSquad
It’s important to hang out with friends who are a positive influence in your life and who give you energy. Choose people who are smarter than you and who have different life experiences than you so you can learn from them and grow as a person. Be open-minded and non-judgemental because you never know where you’ll find your next BFF. But most importantly, try to find people who match your personal brand and share the same values as you so that you stay true to who you are and where you want to be in life.
#WorkSquad
Whether you like it or not, you see these people for most of your day! Can you imagine if it were a pain to be around them? It helps immensely to enjoy working with your team and to enjoy each other’s company. If you’re in the position to be able to choose your team members, it’s important to “get the right people on the bus”: people who share in the company’s vision, mission and values. Your #WorkSquad believes in what you’re trying to accomplish as a team and are committed to seeing the team/product/service/project succeed. Your #WorkSquad respects you and supports your #CareerGoals.
#RelationshipGoals
Last but not least, find your “real partner” in life. I know this is not a “squad”, but this is the person you’ve chosen to be your #1 whom you’ll spend the rest of your life with. This is the person you can count on no matter what. This person supports you fully and shares in your dreams and aspirations. This person also shares in the not-so-fun times like house chores and is open to sharing their secrets and troubles with you. This is the person you look forward to coming home to every day and look forward to sharing a future together. This person lets you be you and simply makes your life better.
